Abstract

360° CHAT-TMD OTEC ABSTRACT The Outreach, Training, and Education Core (OTEC) of 360° CHAT-TMD aims to bridge a significant gap by providing validated, evidence-based curricula developed in collaboration with Persons with Lived Experiences (PWLEs) to train the future Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) biomedical workforce. Our innovative approach includes leveraging relationships with organizations such as the Lyceum for Pain Education and the University of Michigan (UM) HEAL PAIN Cohort Program to expand interdisciplinary pain education initiatives. By integrating AI-powered searchable content and interactive modules that emphasize patient-centered insights, we aim to ensure knowledge dissemination across various stakeholders, including board-certified specialists, early learners, clinicians, investigators, and patients by developing tailored curricula, structured mentorship, and individualized learning plans for early-career researchers. Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs) and PWLEs will be actively engaged in the development and evaluation processes to ensure that the educational resources are relevant and effective. Key partnerships with organizations like the Facial Pain Association and the TMJ Association will help address various educational needs and advance evidence-based practices in TMD and chronic Orofacial Pain (OFP). Recognizing the constraints and environmental impact associated with in-person lectures, we will leverage virtual training programs to reach a wider audience, while maintaining high educational standards and reducing costs and carbon footprint. Existing resources, such as the Lyceum for Pain Education's Interdisciplinary Pain and Headache Rounds and Orofacial Pain Clinical Case Series, will be expanded through the 360° CHAT-TMD initiative to include AI-integrated content and interdisciplinary collaboration. Specific aims include enhancing outreach efforts by establishing a Core Advisory Group (CAG) of stakeholders to guide the development, assessment, and dissemination of educational resources and implementing a comprehensive dissemination strategy that includes a public-facing web-based platform. Additionally, we will develop various training resources through the 360° CHAT-TMD Academy to address gaps in clinical and research knowledge and launch a two-year Clinical Research Pain Career Development Program to provide mentorship and tailored career development for early-career clinician-scientists. By integrating patient perspectives and leveraging advanced technology, the OTEC aims to create a well-trained interdisciplinary biomedical workforce equipped to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care, ultimately advancing the field of TMD and chronic Orofacial Pain.
