Abstract
Project Summary The overarching goal of the Administrative and Research Support Core (Core A) of the Michigan Center on the Demography of Aging Center (MiCDA) is to provide administrative and research support to Center activities in order to promote new research on the demography of aging. MiCDAâs focus over the next cycle will emphasize two overarching thematic areas: the changing demography of late-life disability, dementia and family caregiving; and the social, environmental and biological underpinnings over the life course that shape later-life health and wellbeing. A third theme, cross-cuts the two substantive foci, by advancing data infrastructure and methods to promote breakthroughs in the demography of aging. Core A supports MiCDA activities through two main sets of tasks: (1) Planning and executing administrative functions for MiCDAâs core activities including: overseeing administrative aspects of MiCDAâs Emerging Scholars Mentored Pilot Project Program and accompanying mentorship curriculum; handling event planning, travel and hosting for MiCDAâs meetings, research conferences, webinars, symposia and network meetings; coordinating purchases, agreements and other administrative needs of the MiCDA secure virtual data enclave; and adding new affiliates; and (2) Collecting and analyzing relevant information to evaluate activities with Core Leaders; leading visioning and evaluation activities and regularly reporting to MiCDAâs Advisory Panel; and preparing reports to the Coordinating Center and the National Institute on Aging.
