Abstract
Abstract â Administrative (Admin) Core â Core A This renewal application of the Hopkinsâ Economics of Alzheimerâs Disease & Services (HEADS) Center builds on notable successes of our first project period in which we established an interdisciplinary research community, developed research resources and data infrastructure, and formalized partnerships to address major evidence gaps in our understanding of ADRD care and its consequences. In the next project period, we will expand our Center activities through 5 Cores, launch a new Emerging Scholars Mentorship Program, enhance community with enriched internal and external communications, engage in new real-world translation activities, assemble a Lived Experience Panel and Shared Care Research Network, and expand our research resources through innovative data assets and infrastructure. The Administrative and Research Support (Admin) Core is central to the success of these initiatives by advancing the Centerâs overall aims efficiently and effectively with an emphasis on management, planning, and oversight as well as attention to strategy and values. The Admin Core will build on its successes with the following Specific Aims. AIM 1 provides overall scientific, strategic, and programmatic leadership to the Center. We accomplish Aim 1 by: 1) Supporting our Centerâs organizational and governance structure, 2) Coordinating, facilitating, and monitoring day-to-day HEADS activities through our Center Executive Committee, 3) Strategic planning to harness strengths, overcome challenges, and identify opportunities with the Executive Committee, External Advisory Board (EAB), and Senior Advisors; and 4) Fostering research community through stimulating dialogue, collaborations, and knowledge sharing among Affiliates including a monthly Seminar Series. AIM 2 centrally manages and tracks Center activities, accomplishments, and resources. We accomplish Aim 2 by: 1) Ensuring compliance with NIH policies concerning finances, human subjects, and data sharing, 2), Overseeing the utilization of funds and resource allocation through management of budgets and personnel as well as logistical support of Core activities; and 3) Tracking and reporting accomplishments and coordinating with other centers, NIA, and all relevant audiences to maximize impact of HEADS.
