Abstract
ABSTRACT The overarching goal of the Recruitment Core is to recruit and retain established experts in key areas to build capacity and drive innovation relevant to the three proposed projects. These nationally competitive investigators will fill critical gaps in expertise and serve as nucleating centers for multidisciplinary research and collaboration in Hispanic health disparities for the institution and region. In addition, the new faculty hires will provide leadership and mentoring at all levels within the institution to build capacity for Hispanic Health disparities research, with particular focus on health issues affecting our largely Mexican-origin Hispanic population. The aims that will be implemented to achieve these goals are as follows. Specific Aim 1: Recruit and hire three well-established investigators to provide critical expertise, leadership and mentoring in Hispanic health disparities research to build capacity that will enhance institutional research competitiveness. Specific Aim 2: Fully transition, integrate, and acculturate recruited investigators to enhance their success and retention. Specific Aim 3: Develop leadership platforms for established investigators to increase capacity and drive innovation through mentoring.
