Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY: ADMINISTRATIVE CORE (ADC) The Administrative Core (ADC) of the Center for Biomedical and Health Research (CBMHR) has been instrumental in advancing all program goals, strengthening TSU’s institutional capacity, and cultivating a collaborative research environment. In the upcoming cycle (2025–2030), the proposed ADC aims to expand its scope to further support biomedical, behavioral, and clinical science research. The ADC will continue to provide leadership, oversight, accountability, coordination, communication, mentorship, and evaluation for all CBMHR cores—Research Capacity Core (RCC), Investigator Development Core (IDC), and Community Engagement Core (CEC)—as well as research projects, pilot studies, and community outreach initiatives. The expanded ADC will focus on the following aims: 1) ADC will provide comprehensive administrative oversight and logistical support for all CBMHR cores and center activities, including research projects, pilot projects, and community outreach. It will ensure effective and timely communications/consultations with all stakeholders, while implementing an integrated approach to the annual collaborative symposium, trainings, seminars, workshops, processes, and operational procedures. 2) ADC will continue to build a robust ecosystem to support the rapid growth of basic, behavioral, and clinical research. It will work closely with partners such as the Texas Medical Center, Gulf Coast Consortia, and RCMI Coordinating Center to enhance extramural grant funding opportunities. 3) ADC will sustain and expand its highly successful mentoring program, TEAMRCMI, to promote the recruitment, advancement, and retention of talented early-stage investigators (ESIs) at TSU. This effort will be strengthened through collaboration with IDC, RCC, and CEC and external collaborators. 4) A rigorous evaluation and continuous improvement program will be implemented to maximize CBMHR’s impact. ADC will coordinate with an experienced external evaluator to ensure continuous quality improvement across all CBMHR cores and activities. In addition, the CBMHR Executive Leadership Team (ELT) will oversee the program’s structure, monitor progress, and provide overall guidance. Regular consultations will be held with the Strategic Liaison and External Advisor Council (EAC, composed of eight nationally renowned leaders) to review progress, enhance inter-core collaborations/communication, and address conflict resolution. Quarterly meetings with NIMHD officers will provide progress updates and incorporate feedback for ongoing improvement. The ADC is fully committed to providing exceptional support for all cores, research projects, pilot projects and community outreach activities to deploy the highest level of impact and engagement in advancing the health outcomes of the various populations within our geographical location.
