Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT (RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT CORE) Polycystic kidney diseases (PKD), including both autosomal dominant (ADPKD) and autosomal recessive (ARPKD) forms, are significant causes of kidney failure, affecting millions globally. Despite advances in understanding disease pathogenesis, effective therapies remain limited. This Resource Development Core (RDC) aims to create and nurture a dynamic incubator space that promotes innovation and ensures robust validation of new resources not already available through the proposed Biomedical Resource Cores or in any of the other PKD Centers. The CCKDC RDC provides unique expertise and capabilities to the PKD research community through the PKD RRC Steering Committee to implement the development of new and highly innovative resources. The RDC provides the capability to generate novel mouse and rat PKD resources. We also provide the capability to engineer pluripotent stem cells and differentiate these stem cells into kidney organoids. Together the RDC will facilitate a generation of novel resources for the PKD community based on their research needs and as prioritized by the PKD RRC.
