Abstract

OVERALL SECTION The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) seeks to establish a Nutrition Obesity Research Centers Research Resource Center (NORC-RRC). Within the NORC-RRC is an Administrative Core, Pilot and Feasibilit Program, and Opportunity Program. The Administrative Core will lead, support, and assist broad areas of the NORC program that include: a) Provide administrative support to the NORC Consortium; b) Assist in bolstering areas of thematic importance supporting the Opportunity Program; c) Support early-to-mid career investigators to lead regional, national, and international efforts related to nutrition and obesity through the Pilot and Feasibility Program; d) Develop and implement a dynamic and contemporary Enrichment Program to assist training and mentoring the next generation of nutrition and obesity researchers. The Pilot and Feasibility Program will focus on advancing the training opportunities of early-to-mid career professionals seeking to establish a research career in nutrition and obesity, and the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) through the NORC-RRC is highly committed to fulfilling this responsibility. This KUMC commitment includes an additional $250,000 to support the Pilot and Feasibility Program. The Opportunity Program will support NORC-wide programs and projects that are consistent with the NORC Program goals, projects designed to improve rigor and reproducibility of nutrition and obesity research, mentorship and career development programming, or other purposes in accordance with broader nutrition/obesity research community's needs. KUMC and the Investigators also provide a statement of “willingness” to fulfill the requirements of the NORC-RRC.
