Abstract

CLINICAL AND TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH RESOURCES (CTRR) CORE ABSTRACT There is a critical need for research resources to help clinical and translational investigators gain a deeper understanding of the health challenges faced by the general population in the United States and the underlying factors contributing to these conditions. During the current funding period, there was high demand for the services provided by the multi-institutional Clinical Research Resources and Facilities Core (CRRF) and the Technology and Resources for Research Core Laboratories (TRRCL). To better meet this demand, the CRRF and the TRRCL Cores were merged to create the Clinical and Technology Research Resources (CTRR) Core. This new Core promotes efficient administration and resource allocation through an innovative platform that better integrates clinical and technology resources. The CTRR Core will provide investigators access to Clinical Research and Trials Units (CRTUs), cutting-edge technology, facilities, and training across Alliance institutions and beyond. Additionally, it will enhance the enrollment of study participants in research and improve clinical trial capabilities among researchers. The Core will follow these Specific Aims: (1) Expand and leverage the network of clinical and technology resources available on the Island to optimize the performance of clinical and translational research. (2) Expand clinical trial capabilities throughout the network to increase the representation of the general population, and (3) Expand CTRR collaborative services to the Primary Care Settings (PCS) to improve their capacity for performing clinical research. Providing investigators with the necessary resources will increase the number of studies and collaborations dedicated to addressing health issues. Our novel approach will overcome barriers associated with the lack of specialized technical support and recruitment of research participants, resulting in support of clinical trials within the population we serve.
