Abstract

The Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core (BBC) provides state-of-the-art expertise and intellectual resources in biostatistics, bioinformatics, clinical trial design, and statistical computing, which are critical to the success of basic, clinical, translational, and population-based cancer research. The BBC offers cost-effective and efficient solutions for data analysis needs throughout all phases of cancer research, while following NIH data management guidelines. The facility provides U54 investigators from all participating institutions (University of Miami, Emory University, and Morehouse School of Medicine) with biostatistical and bioinformatics assistance for all stages of the three research Projects and Pilot Projects, from design to execution, analysis, interpretation of results, dissemination of findings, and data management and preservation. The BBC also provides education and training to investigators and trainees on novel biostatistical and bioinformatics methodologies relevant to data acquisition and analysis, as well as assistance with manuscript submissions and future grant preparation. To achieve the objectives of the proposed SPORE entitled, PeRsonalized Outreach and Multifaceted Interventions for Screening Enhancement (PROMISE) for Anal and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment, the BBC will work with the Project leaders and Pilot Projects awardees to provide study design and review all laboratory, clinical, and genomic studies including feasibility assessment, power, and sample size analysis for all three primary projects and with investigators from this proposal from the three participating institutions.
