Abstract

Abstract - Physiology Module The Physiology Module arose from the needs of JMEC investigators to explore retinal disease dynamics and therapeutic interventions in animal models (e.g. RP, AMD, Usher, ROP, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, ischemia). Profiling intraocular pressure, retinal structure by imaging and visual capacity by electroretinography and behavior have strong parallels in human ophthalmic longitudinal diagnostics and have become standards in visual system biology. The aims of the Physiology Module are to provide comprehensive technical and material support for Core investigators seeking to understand visual function and disease at cellular, circuit and organismal levels. Technical expertise is provided by experienced staff with many years’ track-record and ensures that new investigators hit the ground running. Material support covers in vivo and ex vivo electroretinography, in vivo imaging (Micron, confocal, OCT, 2P microscopy), mechanobiology (Flexcell, iPerfusion, tonometry) and behavioral assessment (OptoMotry) tools.
