Abstract
PROJECT ABSTRACT â BIOSTATISTICS AND BIOINFORMATICS CORE The Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core will assist with study design, data management, analysis, and manuscript preparation for the individual projects as well as the other Cores of the Cancer Health Disparities SPORE in Endometrial Cancer. The core will be staffed by two directors with varied analytic expertise as well as a team of specialized statisticians, bioinformaticians, and a data manager to provide an array of analytic knowledge and expertise to the SPORE projects. The computational and data management services provided by the core will expand upon the resources already available to the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Bioinformatics Shared Resource. This will include the use of a high-performance computer cluster, dedicated storage, standardized data processing workflows, sample tracking, as well as database design, implementation, documentation, maintenance, and user support. The core will provide statistical and analytic support that will cover power analysis along with the use of field-standard and cutting-edge regression and machine learning approaches for cross-platform and multi-domain data integration to facilitate understanding the inter-relationship between social factors, clinical factors, and endometrial cancer biology. For all analyses, biostatisticians and bioinformaticians from the core will work together to develop, review, and approve analysis plans, assign appropriate personnel for each analysis task, discuss and solve analytical and technical challenges, review analysis code and report, and write manuscripts.
