Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT- PLANNING AND EVALUATION CORE The Planning and Evaluation Core (P&E) of the H-H U54 is responsible for overseeing programmatic planning, coordination, and evaluation across all components of the Partnership. The Core will monitor progress of research activities, education initiatives, and community-focused programs through structured, longitudinal assessment. Evaluation efforts will use a Logic Model framework that connects inputs, activities, and outcomes to ensure alignment with the program’s overall goals and to support long-term sustainability. Led by Dr. Xinbin Gu (Howard University) and Dr. Clayton Yates (Johns Hopkins University), the P&E Core will provide guidance to H-H U54 investigators and governance committees by offering actionable feedback based on both formative and summative evaluation. The Core will also help identify opportunities for integration and improvement across research, training, and outreach activities. The P&E Core’s primary functions include: 1. Continuous oversight and progress tracking of all H-H U54 projects; 2. Development of a shared strategy for collaborative research monitoring; 3. Coordination of internal communication and activity reporting;4. Identification and support of new research and training opportunities; 5. Evaluation of outreach and education programs led by the Community and Education Cores, including initiatives under the Research Opportunity and Innovation at Johns Hopkins and Howard Universities (ROI@J-HU) platform; 6. Organization of program-wide meetings and events to support knowledge exchange and strategic planning. Through these activities, the Planning and Evaluation Core will help ensure that H-H U54 remains adaptive, accountable, and strategically aligned with its mission to advance cancer research, education, and community engagement across the region.
