Abstract

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is seeking support from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for the Integrative Molecular Epidemiology Workshop, a one-week program designed to accelerate the integration of emerging omics technologies for advancing cancer prevention and improving patient outcomes. Unlike traditional clinical trial approaches, the workshop emphasizes the application of these technologies within an epidemiologic framework, enabling researchers to integrate molecular data while assessing associated risks. Tailored for professionals in molecular epidemiology, genetics, statistics, and related fields, the workshop cultivates a multidisciplinary cohort through interactive teaching, group learning, and hands-on application under the guidance of expert faculty. The curriculum designed for postdoctoral fellows, junior faculty, advanced graduate students, and mid- to senior-level faculty, includes lectures, research seminars, and career development sessions. It integrates innovative teaching methods, adaptive group learning, and real-world team science experiences through interdisciplinary group work and mentorship. Aligned with contemporary research priorities, the workshop emphasizes the importance of addressing broad population needs, generalizability, and real-world variability in cancer outcomes. Participants are encouraged to consider population- based research approaches, reinforcing a commitment to advancing meaningful and applicable progress in cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. With a successful track record in educational programs, AACR is committed to measurable outcomes, including knowledge enhancement, as demonstrated through pre- and post-assessments, and long-term impact through publications, continued learning, and participant feedback. Success is further evidenced by post-workshop collaborations and coauthored publications. The program's comprehensive methodology, highlighting practical experiences, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and achieving tangible results, underscores AACR's dedication to advancing proficiency, expertise, and meaningful contributions within the rapidly evolving field of molecular epidemiology.
