Abstract

Description: (Applicant's Description) This facility was previously part of the joint Transgenic/Histology facility. It was designed for the efficient processing, sectioning and examination of tissue from mouse and other species, and provides expert advice and assistance in slide preparation. It serves all groups using mutant mouse strains and is available to all other groups. A consultant veterinary pathologist provides expert review of slides. Support comes from this CCSG (equipment and one full-time technician) and from individual users (personnel and full cost supplies). Professor Tyler Jacks has supervisory responsibility for the facility. His research program centers on the generation of mouse models of human cancer, and he and his laboratory have performed extensive histological analysis of tumor models as well as developmental phenotypes in the mouse.
