Abstract
Autoimmune diseases comprise a large set of disorders that together afflict almost 50 million Americans; four out of five patients with autoimmunity are women. The mission of the Specialized Center of Research Excellence on Sex Differences in Autoimmunity (SCORE-X) is to serve as a national resource in understanding sex as a biological variable in autoimmunity. The LAC will conduct activities to (1) monitor, stimulate, evaluate, and report on the research projects, pilot grants and educational programs particularly with respect to the overall goals of the SCORE; and (2) provide Intellectual leadership in support of the activities of the SCORE consortium. The LAC has the following aims: Aim 1 is to provide administrative leadership and integration of projects and the CEC across the proposed Center; facilitate intra-center communication, problem identification and resolution; coordinate the projectsâ and CECâs activities; oversee financial management of SCORE-X. Aim 2 is to establish, manage, and lead consortia, committees and organize and convene meetings for the SCORE-X team, including internal and external evaluation committees. Aim 3 is progress monitoring, data management, dissemination, and outward communication of research results.
