Abstract

ADMINISTRATIVE CORE (CORE A) PROJECT SUMMARY The Administrative Core (Core A) provides overall leadership and management of the DC CFAR in support of its mission to end the HIV epidemic and improve the health and quality of life of persons with HIV in Washington, DC and beyond in partnership with community and government. The Administrative Core is led by DC CFAR Director Dr. Alan E. Greenberg, Co-Directors Dr. Manya Magnus and Dr. Amanda Castel, and Administrative Director Ms. Brandi Robinson. The Core staff includes a Center Associate who provides overall technical and communications support; a Core Manager who supports the Developmental Core and three Scientific Cores; a Community Coordinator who serves as a liaison between DC CFAR investigators and the DC HIV community; and a fiscal management team that oversees the DC CFAR budget and multiple subcontracts. The Administrative Core promotes and supports collaborative HIV science for 260 investigator members at nine partner institutions by addressing four Specific Aims. First, the Core provides leadership and governance through its support and coordination of the DC CFAR Executive Committee, three Advisory Committees, five Cores, two Scientific Working Groups (SWGs) and two Scientific Interest Groups (SIGs) which function as developmental SWGs. Second, the Core promotes multi-institutional HIV science through supporting NIH grant proposals, pilot award programs, service provision, and seminars. Third, the Core manages the DC CFAR budget and tracks and evaluates core service provision, grant and publication productivity, and regulatory documentation. Fourth, the Core ensures effective communication and collaboration among DC CFAR investigators and their community, government and CFAR network partners.
