Abstract

This competitive award program will provide funds to talented and highly meritorious early-career trainees in the field of cancer research to support the presentation of their research at high-caliber national scientific conferences organized by the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). AACR conferences present unique opportunities to interact with the world’s leading experts and discuss the latest findings in rapidly developing areas of cancer research. By attending an AACR conference, awardees of this program will advance their understanding of cancer and be exposed to the most cutting-edge research in the field. This project is an essential component of a multi-level effort by the AACR to support the professional and scientific development of investigators working in cancer research and biomedical science. The AACR Early-Career Scholar in the Field of Cancer Research Award program exposes emerging scientists to the most current groundbreaking cancer science and medicine through their participation in AACR Annual Meetings or scientifically focused Special Conferences. In addition to their exposure to state-of-the-art cancer research, Awardees also gain access to mentoring and networking opportunities with experienced investigators as well as important professional development guidance, and career-building showcases of their achievements. These awards are given annually to graduate students, medical students, residents, clinical fellows, and postdoctoral researchers in support of their participation at AACR Annual Meetings or Special Conferences.
