Abstract

Project Summary (Administrative Core) The discovery, implementation, and integration stages of the precision rehabilitation framework developed by the Precise Center require careful administration to ensure efficient operations and representation of broad stakeholder perspectives. The Administrative Core will facilitate the advancement of precision rehabilitation research initiatives via interdisciplinary leadership, recruitment and incorporation of a new generation of precision rehabilitation research scientists and leaders, and pragmatic oversight over core functions of all aspects of the Precise Center. The central goal of the Administrative Core is to act as a steward over the Precise Center and ensure that the activities of the center are conducted in an effective, efficient, responsible, and timely manner. By nature, precision rehabilitation is interdisciplinary. Precision rehabilitation must take the perspectives of all stakeholders, including but not limited to clinicians, researchers, persons with lived experience, families and caregivers, and funders and supporters. In Aim 1, the Precise Center Administrative Core will provide the interdisciplinary, intellectual leadership needed to stimulate and sustain the development of innovative precision rehabilitation research. This will include structuring a leadership framework with a Steering Committee, External Advisory Board, and Stakeholder Engagement Council. The Administrative Core will also oversee local programming, hosting of a national meeting on precision rehabilitation, and interactions with the other Medical Rehabilitation Resource Centers. Precision rehabilitation is an emerging discipline and, accordingly, will require a new generation of leaders in rehabilitation research. In Aim 2, the Precise Center Administrative Core will identify, attract, and support this new generation of precision rehabilitation leaders. This will occur through 1) central organization of the support provided by the Precise Center’s Resource and Community Engagement and Outreach Cores, 2) administration of the Pilot Program, and 3) organization of interactions with the Steering Committee, External Advisory Board, and Stakeholder Engagement Council. Precision rehabilitation requires interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, but it also necessitates efficiency of complex operations and interactions among a range of stakeholders. In Aim 3, the Precise Center Administrative Core will lead, administer, and oversee all core functions to assure productivity, cost effectiveness, integration, and quality of all aspects of the Precise Center. This will include setting vision and mission of the center, setting milestones and monitoring progress, and oversight of funding-related activities including preparation of reports for non-competing renewal applications and reporting to the National Institutes of Health. It will also include support of outreach activities to advance precision rehabilitation research and careers of those engaging with the Precise Center.
