Abstract

ABSTRACT (COMPARATIVE PATHOLOGY AND ANIMAL MODELS CORE – CORE 5) The Comparative Pathology and Animal Models Core (CPAMC) provides professional services, expertise, and resources to Center Members to facilitate multiple goals. The CPAMC offers 1) technical expertise and resources for tissue handling and histotechnology techniques, and 2) the experience of a board-certified veterinary pathologist experienced in analysis of tissues from humans with cystic fibrosis and animal models of this disease. cystic fibrosis (CF). The CPAMC provides these services to Center Members in a timely and efficient manner for optimal assessment of tissues. The goals of the CPAMC are to: 1) Assist with training in necropsy, tissue handling, and analysis services for Center Members; 2) Provide professional histotechnology services and expertise to Center Members; 3) Provide scientific expertise and resources in veterinary pathology to Center Members; 4) Provide a professional and uniform platform for direct and reproducible pathological comparisons between CF model species; and 5) Distribute histologic specimens from CF models to extramural investigators.
