Abstract

Clostridioides difficile is a major nosocomial pathogen that costs the US healthcare system ~$5 billion to treat each year. Since the CamA DNA methyltransferase is important for infectious spore formation and persistence in mice, and CamA is unique to C. difficile, elucidating the impact of DNA methylation on C. difficile physiology could facilitate the development of new therapeutics.
