Abstract
The overall goal of the EMBRACE Center Training Component is to promote training and build capacity of the community of people involved in the collective care and optimization of reproductive and perinatal health focused on reducing maternal morbidity and mortality. The overarching goal will be achieved through the following aims: 1: Mentoring. Promote success of early stage community-engaged reproductive and perinatal health investigators in multiple disciplines across the training continuum, including early career faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and predoctoral students, through robust support by a team of academic, clinical, and community mentors; and enhance mentorship and promote institutional connectiveness for reproductive and perinatal health researchers in academic medicine or the health sciences through rigorous career development in a supportive, collegial environment through face-to-face structured interactions; 2: Research Enrichment, Training, and Capacity Building. Provide reproductive and perinatal health equity research, community-engaged research, public health practice, data transparency, and communication training and support for early career scientists and community health partners through an enrichment program including a pilot funding program, research program support, support for scientific and public health conference registration and travel, educational sessions, seminars, and research forums, and community outreach; 3: Community Integration. Develop a community-based training program that is focused on strengthening the reproductive and perinatal healthcare workforce; 4: Reproductive Health Training. Promote high-quality reproductive and perinatal care through provision of humanity-centered education to support a holistically trained, and empathetic workforce of obstetric clinical care providers, clinical staff, researchers, and organizational staff.
