Abstract

Project Summary. The Biological Imaging Core provides DRC investigators with access to innovative imaging technologies, scientific consultation and high-quality imaging resources to enable cutting-edge approaches to their research. The Core will provide access to state-of-the-art imaging systems in a timely, cost-effective, and integrated manner individualized to the specific needs of each investigator. We maintain and update a comprehensive database of existing biosensors, their properties, and associated protocols and methodologies to facilitate user support, including the curation of biosensor `kits' for the most useful probe sets for the DRC investigator community and beyond. In addition, we provide DRC investigators with the world's first comprehensive resource to support the custom design and use of fluorescent and bioluminescent biosensors. Our support includes one-on-one consultations on all technical aspects of biological imaging, aiding in selection of appropriate biosensors for each research goal, design of pilot microscopy experiments using biosensors, image analysis, interpretation, and troubleshooting. These efforts integrate the microscopy and biosensor components for ongoing/continuous technology development and user support.
