Abstract
SUMMARY CLINICAL CORE The Clinical Core of the Stanford Alzheimerâs Disease Research Center (ADRC) will enroll, assess, and follow participants with Alzheimerâs disease (AD) or Lewy body disease LBD and healthy older adults without cognitive or motor impairment. Participants are characterized by clinical syndrome and by biological disease inferred from fluid and imaging biomarkers. Clinical Core aims are the following: 1) Enroll participants into research protocols of the Stanford ADRC; characterize their neurological, cognitive, and behavioral status; provide consensus diagnoses; provide high-quality clinical data to the Data Management and Statistical Core; follow participants longitudinally; and promote adherence and retention. 2) Support deep phenotyping of ADRC participants in coordination with Imaging, Neuropathology, and Biomarker Cores through clinical assessments, biospecimen collections, and other means. 3) Assess hearing, vision, and olfaction as new Core resources. 4) Support developmental projects and other research needs of investigators interested in AD and AD related dementias. 5) Support the Research and Education Component by providing a rich training environment for students, residents, fellows, and faculty.
