Abstract

SUMMARY ADMINISTRATIVE CORE The Farrukh–Jamal Stanford Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) has as its theme the study of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Lewy body disease (LBD), the two most common neurodegenerative disorders. Each can be characterized clinically and defined biologically. The Stanford ADRC serves as a shared resource to facilitate and enhance transdisciplinary research on AD, LBD, and healthy brain aging. Our ADRC pursues a strategy of deep phenotyping, which draws together multiple levels of clinical and biological data on individual participants, who are followed over time. The Administrative Core establishes Center priorities, directs future planning, supports optimal use of Center resources, and performs other administrative functions. Aims over the next five years are the following: (1) Provide the administrative infrastructure needed to guide the Stanford ADRC in its support of goals and milestones of the National Alzheimer’s Project Act. (2) Stimulate innovative research on AD and AD related disorders by existing and new investigators — including the solicitation, evaluation, selection, and monitoring of developmental projects. (3) Support the recruitment, retention, and promotion of a diverse faculty; support the recognition of team science; and provide leadership opportunities for the next generation of ADRC leaders. (4) Promote interactions and collaborations with other ADRCs and with other scientific and lay communities that support Center goals.
