Abstract

The Administrative Core will provide leadership to the North Texas Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (NT- ADRC). The core will oversee the center’s activities to achieve its mission of strengthening Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) research, enhancing clinical and educational activities in the North Texas area, and contributing to the national network of ADRCs. We are building our center by leveraging multiple ongoing research programs and initiatives. There is a strong institutional commitment for establishing highly innovative multidisciplinary neuroscience programs, including the proposed NT-ADRC. We structured the Administrative Core to serve the center’s key mission and activities and to serve as a hub for Internal and external connections. The Director and the Executive Committee will oversee the proper utilization of the center’s resources, ensuring their use has the maximum impact on the AD/ADRD field and accomplishes our center’s aims. The Executive Committee has the critical role of advising the Director in making scientific and administrative decisions related to the center. They will facilitate building the network of collaborative scientists and clinicians who will work towards accomplishing the center’s aims. The Administrative Core aims are to: 1. provide governance of the NT-ADRC by planning, coordinating, and integrating all activities of the center; 2. promote innovative and cutting-edge research through creating an internal funding program and participating in recruitment and retention of investigators and faculty; 3. facilitate internal and external data and biospecimen sharing; 4.create opportunities for interaction, networking, exchange of ideas, and result dissemination; and 5. to create a culture of the highest scientific integrity. The Administrative Core will set the center’s research priorities, encourage new innovative lines of research and interactions between the center cores and investigators at all levels, and serve as a central location for dissemination of knowledge to the local scientific and lay communities. The Administrative Core will also coordinate visits and work closely with the Internal and External Advisory Committees to further enhance our work towards the global aim of finding effective therapies for these disabling diseases.
