Abstract
DATA SCIENCE, BIOINFORMATICS, BIOSTATISTICS AND COMPUTATIONAL CORE (DSBC2)-SUMMARY The LBRN Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, and Computational Core (DSBC2) brings together experts in various fields to support biomedical research and training at Louisiana's primarily undergraduate institutions (PUIs). DSBC2 assists researchers with experiment design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, training in data science and bioinformatics and other needs. Leveraging resources from the LSU Center for Computation & Technology (CCT), DSBC2 provides access to high-performance computing systems and supports collaboration on complex biomedical challenges. The core aims to democratize access to data science and bioinformatics tools through training initiatives, including the NIGMS Sandbox and a virtual platform offering free data science and bioinformatics training modules to all PUI investigators. Specific aims include providing computational resources to PUIs, offering bioinformatics and biostatistics services, and delivering organized training and educational support that can enhance formal courses offered in each PUI campus. DSBC2 collaborates with other INBRE programs and recently co-sponsored a symposium on data science and bioinformatics at the Southeast Regional IDeA conference in South Carolina. Through these efforts, DSBC2 enhances research capabilities, fosters collaboration, and promotes the adoption of advanced technologies in data science and bioinformatics across Louisiana's scientific community and throughout the NIH IDeA Networks.
