Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT The opioid epidemic continues to be a significant public health crisis, with the death rate from opioid overdoses rising an average of 7% a year for over a decade in the United States. Innovative approaches that focus on enhancing emotional regulation and resilience are needed to complement existing treatment strategies. The PEACE Platform is a novel solution that leverages personalized audiovisual content and machine learning algorithms to help individuals with opioid use disorders (OUDs) build their capacity to manage negative emotions and stressors. The platform generates tailored content and uses objective physiological data from wrist wearables to identify the likelihood that an individual's reactions to the content are positive and uplifting. By combining generative artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and physiological data, the PEACE Platform offers a precision medicine tool that creates and recommends content to support emotional well-being and resilience in the context of OUD treatment. The research design involves the development and evaluation of the PEACE Platform, including the integration of machine learning algorithms, biometric data analytics, and user experience optimization. The methods will include a combination of data analysis, user testing with patients and providers, and software development to assess the usability and feasibility of the PEACE Platform as an adjunct to existing OUD interventions.
