Abstract

ADMINISTRATIVE CORE: SUMMARY The overarching goal of the Administrative Core of the Center for Implementation Science is to provide the context and conditions to develop the Center as an independent, sustainable, and comprehensive resource for Implementation Science at Dartmouth, regionally in New Hampshire, and nationally. The Administrative Core will be the central organizing entity of the Center for Implementation Science. Members of the Administrative Core will ensure that the overall goals of the COBRE program are met by creating an administrative infrastructure for multi-disciplinary research in implementation science. The proposed Administrative Core of the Center for Implementation Science, supported by Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) mechanism, will support and advance research by junior faculty, building on Dartmouth's recognized academic and research excellence and more than 20-year successful track record of COBRE centers. The Administrative Core will oversee and facilitate Center activities to create new infrastructure in implementation science to support junior faculty to expand their research focus toward developing, implementing, and sustaining evidence-based interventions in the field of implementation science, while also supporting implementation science regionally and across the IDeA network of INBRE programs. The Administrative Core will be guided by the following specific aims: Aim 1: The Administrative Core will manage all aspects of the Center for Implementation Science; Aim 2: The Administrative Core will support the development and transition of Research Project Leaders to independent research funding; and Aim 3: The Administrative Core will oversee the formative and summative evaluation strategies marked with specific timelines and milestones by contracting with an outside agency. Impact: The proposed Center for Implementation Science will provide needed funding, new scientific resources, and mentorship to advance junior faculty into independent research careers focused on the study and application of implementation science. The Administrative Core will oversee the initial research projects that will support the development of a self-sustaining, multidisciplinary, research program in implementation science and provide a needed resource for IDeA Centers for Biomedical Research Excellence nationally to foster national collaboration and accelerate NIH funding independence.
