Abstract

PROJECT 2 ABSTRACT The project titled "Developing Statistical Methods and Computational Tools for Inferring Gene Co-expression Networks in Spatial Transcriptomics Studies" aims to advance our understanding of gene expression in the context of spatial transcriptomics (SRT) and its relevance to human health. Recent advances in SRT technologies have allowed us to explore gene expression patterns while preserving their spatial context, providing critical insights into disease mechanisms and tissue biology. However, the inference of gene co- expression networks in spatially structured tissues remains a challenge due to the unique spatial dependencies in gene expression data. The overall goal of this project is to develop innovative statistical methods and computational tools for the accurate inference of gene co-expression networks in SRT studies. This research directly aligns with the mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to improve human health by expanding our understanding of biological processes.
