Abstract

Abstract/Summary – Administrative Core The Administrative Core is responsible for overall leadership and scientific oversight of the Michigan Metabolic Phenotyping of live Models of Obesity and Diabetes (MPMOD) Center. The Core will also provide administrative assistance to the Metabolic, Physiological and Behavioral (MPB) Phenotyping Core and ensure that their services are delivered efficiently and to the highest possible standards. The Administrative Core includes its director and principal investigator of the MPMOD, Dr. Carol Elias, the associate director, Dr. Liangyou Rui, and a center administrator. The leadership team has extensive administrative experience and is centrally located in the North Campus Research Complex at the Elizabeth Weiser Caswell Diabetes Institute (CDI). The MPMOD Administrative Core will be adjacent to administrative cores of the Michigan Diabetes Research Center (MDRC), the Michigan Nutrition and Obesity Research Center (MNORC) and the CDI. This clustering of related Administrative Cores will result in efficient use of space and equipment and will leverage the collective experience of all centers administrators assuring the transfer of best practices among them. Dr. Elias will meet monthly with Dr. Rui, and both will meet quarterly with the Internal Steering Committee to review all MPMOD activities and provide feedback to the Animal and Phenotyping Cores directors. The specific aims of the Administrative Core are described below.
