Abstract
PROJECT SUMMARY The purpose of the Fred Hutch/University of Washington/Seattle Childrenâs Cancer Consortium Administration is to support all Consortium units and members as they carry out the Consortiumâs strategic plan. In alignment primarily with four of the Consortiumâs strategic initiatives, Administration strengths the foundation of research and care through 1) collaboration and integration across the Consortium. By function, our team provides infrastructure to make our consortium cancer center greater than the sum of its parts; we connect and enhance collaborations across Consortium institutions and integrate various systems to achieve greater efficiency. The Administration team is part of the Consortiumâs 2) effective infrastructure, with primary responsibility for governance, planning, and evaluation for the Consortium. The Administration team supports Consortium leaders and members, research programs, shared resources, and clinical trials operations. Administration also enables and upholds critical CCSG components, including Community Outreach & Engagement (COE) and Cancer Research Training & Education Coordination (CRTEC). Our team 3) supports belonging, both within the Consortium and on a national level. Finally, Administration is focused on fostering collaboration with patients and communities through 4) providing and advocating for reduction in health disparities to alleviate the burden of cancer. The Administration team has been responsive to the ever-changing landscape of the Consortium and CCSG guidelines. Since the beginning of the current cycle, Consortium membership has grown by over 160 members; in FY2023, cancer-relevant funding, excluding the CCSG and training projects, was at $238.4M (direct costs), of which $75.8M was from the NCI; interventional trials had 3,138 accruals while non-interventional trials had 4,891 accruals; and between FY2020-23, members have authored more than 6,980 cancer-related publications, with 13% in journals with impact factors >20. New in this cycle of the CCSG is the component for Shared Resources Management (SRM). Administration has been pivotal to helping to establish this team in alignment with the Consortium strategic plan and CCSG guidelines.
