Abstract
Admin Core Abstract: The Administrative Core, jointly led by Stanford and Cornell University, will function as the organizational hub for the Viromes Across Spaces and Time (VAST) center of the Human Virome Project (HVP) Consortium. First and foremost, the Administrative Core will coordinate the activities of the Biospecimen Collection, Biospecimen Analysis, Data Analysis and Submission, and Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications Cores within the VAST center. Second, as the Administrative core is tasked with harmonizing practices across the Consortium, the Core will collaborate with Data Analysis & Submission Cores and the HVP Coordination and Data Collection Center (CODCC) to establish cohesive Standard Operating Practices. Finally, given the focus on assessing the human virome, especially through the Developing Novel and Innovative Tools initiative, the Core will guide metric development, cross-site studies, cross- training, and the creation, benchmarking and timely dissemination of data analysis tools ensuring data and metadata The Core, to be headed by the VCC's contact Principal Investigator (PD/PI), Michael Snyder, will leverage extensive experience in managing multidisciplinary teams for eukaryotic and prokaryotic virus research. Six specific aims will drive the Administrative Core: (1) providing operational oversight and integration, (2) fostering collaboration, communication, workshops and cross training (3) oversee the establishment of SOPs, metrics for data generation and metadata standards. (4) initiating Collaborative Pilot Projects, (5) broadly disseminating results, and (6) ensuring timely milestone achievement and data deposition in appropriate repositories. Key responsibilities will include supervising center activities, implementing plans for enhancing diverse perspectives, and facilitating communication with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Administrative Core will ensure seamless coordination within and across Virome Characterization Centers, facilitating the submission of data adhering to agreed-upon Standard Operating Procedures and Common Data Elements, and contributing to the overall success of the HVP. The Steering Committee will evaluate data generation and quality, ensuring Consortium-wide adherence to goals and milestones.
