Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology (MCCB) Core The strategic goal of the Indiana University School of Medicine Purdue University TaRget Enablement to Accelerate Therapy Development for Alzheimer's Disease (IUSM-Purdue TREAT-AD) Center is to integrate sophisticated disease biology and drug discovery capabilities to create Target Enabling Packages (TEPs) for the study of emerging Alzheimer's disease hypotheses (beyond amyloid beta) and create the foundation for new classes of therapeutics. The IUSM-Purdue TREAT-AD Center has established itself as a strategic and operational partner for NIA supported consortia. The mission of the Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology (MCCB) Core is threefold. First, the Core aims to make and validate new molecular research tools, serving as a foundational platform for cutting-edge discovery and development of reagents and optimized pharmacological tools for target validation. Second, the core creates novel molecular starting points for Lead Development Programs. Lastly, the Core integrates the Center's various activities and data, ensuring a cohesive and synergistic approach to research endeavors. In achieving its objectives, the MCCB Core will play a pivotal role in meeting the Center's milestones, driving research activities, identifying biological targets, assessing druggability, and providing both molecular probes and lead molecules. Furthermore, it will disseminate essential resources and data such as novel molecules, synthesis methodologies, and characterization data. All resources and data will be made available in Target Enabling Packages that are made available to the Alzheimer's Disease research community through the AD Knowledge Portal.
