Abstract

Project summary – Data Science Core Rapid advances in data science have transformed our ability to glean information about almost every aspect of our society from existing data. The biomedical and health sciences are no exception, and it is clear that data- driven approaches can reveal previously hidden connections that can be exploited to improve human health. The DE-INBRE Data Science Core (DSC) builds and supports the computational resources and human capital needed to promote biomedical data science infrastructure, education, and research at all Delaware INBRE (DE-INBRE) Network Partner Institutions (NPIs). During DE-INBRE V, the DSC will further expand Delaware’s already robust capacity to use data science methods to answer biomedically relevant problems. The DSC will accomplish this objective by: 1) Advancing data science education and training initiatives to provide the critical knowledge and analytical skills that Delaware’s research workforce needs to perform data-driven biomedical research. 2) Developing and maintaining the data science expertise and support services needed to foster cutting-edge biomedical research in Delaware. 3) Enabling access to the computational and storage infrastructure necessary to support data-driven research and training.
