Abstract
The mission of the Division of Translational Toxicology (DTT) at NIEHS is to improve public health through data and knowledge development that are translatable, predictive, and timely. The primary goal of this project is to provide support for collaborative toxicological research activities targeted toward the prevention of diseases or adverse effects caused by exposures to chemicals and physical agents. The purpose of this Interagency Agreement (IAA) between NIEHS and FDA/NCTR, first established in 1992, is to support the conduct of studies at FDA/NCTR to address knowledge gaps regarding the potential toxicity of chemicals or substances of mutual concern between NIEHS and FDA, and to support collaborative work between scientists at NIEHS/DTT and at NCTR that enhances the knowledge base around toxicity of a substance, or development and validation of new and improved toxicological test methods. Data on the toxicity of chemicals or substances provides the US Government regulatory agencies with data to properly conduct risk assessments.
