Abstract

This Agreement sets forth the terms and conditions governing the arrangement between NCI and SSA under which SSA will provide information to NCI for purposes of epidemiological or similar research. NCI will use the information for research on cancer survival statistics. NCI will provide information to eighteen (18) cancer registries participating in the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program, which are NCI’s contractors. See Attachment A for a list of cancer registries. SSA will use information on individual study subjects submitted by NCI to search SSA databases to determine whether each person has been reported to SSA as deceased, is presumed living, or there is not sufficient information to make a determination of vital status. SSA will extract vital status information from the following systems of records: • Master Beneficiary Record, SSA/ORSIS 60-0090; • Master Files of Social Security Number (SSN) Holders and SSN Applications (the Enumeration System), SSA/OTSO 60-0058 (Numident); • Supplemental Security Income Record and Special Veterans Benefit, SSA/ODSSIS 60-0103; and • Earnings Recording and Self-Employment Income System, SSA/OS 60 0059.
