Abstract

Promoting and fostering the use of data- and knowledge-driven research is a critical component of the Division of Translational Toxicology’s (DTT’s) scientific information management. One aspect of this research is advancement of the development and application of common, well-defined vocabularies for describing concepts and relationships relevant to toxicological and environmental health research. Common languages aid in describing research data and metadata, support the development of biomedical knowledge bases, support analytical tools/pipelines/methodologies, and aid in the interpretation of research data. A large portion of DTT’s effort in this area is supported by the Environmental Health Language Collaborative project. Keywords: vocabularies, toxicology, environmental health, common language.
