Abstract

We have performed identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing on 70 Achromobacter spp. isolates. Additionally, these isolates underwent whole genome sequencing to identify the genotypic characteristics which were then compared to the phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility pattern observed. The results demonstrate the resistant nature of this pathogen. Isolates showed lower MICs for delafloxacin and Eravacycline, but MICs were high for Omadacycline. There was poor correlation between results obtained by Kirby Bauer and broth microdilution with very major errors (VMEs) >3% for all drugs except ceftazidime/avibactam. However, major errors (MEs) were high for ceftazidime/avibactam We are analyzing genomic data to establish the molecular mechanisms of resistance in order to identify treatment options. The preliminary findings were presented at the American Society for Microbiology Microbe meeting in June 2023.
