Germline-Somatic Interactions and Association with Treatment Response in Cancer

Abstract

Studies examining "germline-somatic interaction" in the literature have dramatic heterogeneity in defining "germline," "somatic," and "interaction." However, few studies have directly evaluated human data, and almost no studies have begun to characterize treatment response associated with these "germline-somatic interactions." We hypothesize that we will be able to identify differential associations with treatment response based on co-occurrence of germline / somatic mutations in specific settings of treatment in primary breast cancer and metastatic breast cancer.
