Abstract
The study of autoimmunity using NHANES survey data explored time trends and determinants of anti-nuclear antibodies and found strong evidence that the prevalence of those antibodies has been increasing in the US over the past few decades. Recent work with the NHANES data looked at a specific marker (anti-dense fine speckled 70 autoantibodies) and found increases in the US population over time. Ongoing work will attempt to link those increases to xenobiotics that have changed over time. In a study relating urinary phenols and early pregnancy loss and fecundability, based on the NC Early Pregnancy Study, higher levels of 2,5-dichllorophenol was associated with early pregnancy loss. The per cycle probability of conception was higher in women with higher levels of butylparaaben or triclosan, compared to non detectable concentrations.
