Abstract

We formed an expert advisory committee and together decided the following: 1. The focus of the first FairLab study will be social disadvantage and health. 2. Two-phase deliberation will be the basic structure of the first FairLab. Phase 1 deliberation will be about collective value exploration, examining how the general public defines social disadvantage. Phase 2 deliberations will be a more typical deliberation, examining what the general public thinks about a concrete policy-relevant question related to social disadvantage. Phase 1 deliberation will create the information base for Phase 2 deliberation both in terms of the content and methods. 3. The methodological approach for Phase 1 deliberation will be serious games. We are in the process of developing a relationship with a community partner.
