Abstract
The EMF assesses whether the users' goals are achievable via EM, and suggests suitable EM techniques to serve their needs. EMF Provides technical support on sample preparation, including fixation, tissue processing, sectioning, and training users on the use of microscopes. If needed, EMF will assist in interpretation of the images. The EMF in FY22 has worked with seven PI's and more than seventeen staff members from these labs, resulting in four publications acknowledging contributions from EMF: 1. Chen X, Crosby KC, Feng A, Purkey AM, Aronova MA, Winters CA, Crocker VT, Leapman RD, Reese TS, Dell'Acqua ML. Palmitoylation of A-kinase anchoring protein 79/150 modulates its nanoscale organization, trafficking, and mobility in postsynaptic spines. In addition, users also presented talks in scientific meetings and seminar serieses. The manager of EMF, Jung Hwa Tao-Cheng, is the first author of a manuscript in press: Jun-Hwa Tao-Cheng, Sandra L. Moreira, Christine A. Winters, Thomas S Reese, Ayse Dosemeci, Modification of the Synaptic Cleft Under Excitatory Conditions, Frontiers in synaptic neuroscience (in press), and presented a talk in the seminar series organized by Andy Cole/Tom Reese: "Immunogold labeling of presynaptic proteins upon stimulation and during development". The manager of EMF also reviewed one journal article (Cells), and a pre-submission review for an application to NINDS Competitive Research Fellowship Award.
