Abstract

Our overall mission is to derive actionable insights from integrating translational research data and to accelerate translation of findings into the clinic. Our efforts span the following general areas: 1) translational data analytics: development of custom workflows to interpret complex datasets such as multi-omic and clinical data, and application of data science approaches to predict translational research outcomes; 2) standards, knowledge sources, and software: connecting and supporting analyses of various types of experimental and curated datasets; in-house curation efforts; 3) scientific computing and research support: development, maintenance, and deployment of workflows, web and mobile apps to disseminate our robust methods and data. 4) rare disease informatics: developing an ontology for rare diseases, using natural language processing methods to draw up-to-date information on rare diseases from various sources (e.g., publications, grants, social media). These general areas are highly synergistic, where work one area informs work in other areas.
