Abstract
P30 Administrative Supplement to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Centerâs âCancer Center Support Grantâ (P30 CA016672 47, Principal Investigator: Peter T. Pisters, MD) PROJECT SUMMARY: This supplement proposes the implementation of a collaborative training program to connect underrepresented minority scholars with training navigators. Training navigators will help connect scholars to the Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) program. Our goals for this supplement funding period are to fund scholarsâ career development activities, workshops, conferences, and certificates. Combining the rich resources of MD Anderson, the aims of this supplement are to: 1) Identify underrepresented minority scholars (predoctoral, postdoctoral fellows, or early-stage investigators); 2) Engage and provide training support to scholars; and 3) Leverage two existing TNs with expertise in career development and grant administration and hire a third TN with expertise in cancer health disparities and connection to CURE and Region 3 GMaP research, training, and funding opportunities. RELEVANCE: This supplement proposes the implementation and completion of a Training Navigation program, which will provide hands-on support to assist predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows and early-stage investigators with their educational advancement and career development activities.
