Abstract
Project Summary In this application we propose to overlay a ten-week summer fellowship research training program and virtual outreach seminar series on career development, for under-represented minorities (URM) undergraduates around the country, onto the existing infrastructure of the IBIS Network, to promote entry of URM undergraduates into a career in autism research. URM undergraduates will be recruited at various sites of the NIH-funded Infant Brain Imaging Study, around the country. They will work with a junior research trainee, under the supervision of an established IBIS investigator. Participating trainees will attend local research lab meetings, be assigned to a specific research project, observe all aspects of data collection, attend regular network meetings and local didactic seminars, and meet regularly with members of the research team at all levels and across all disciplines to discuss aspects of research content areas and professional development, and be expected to produce a final written product on a relevant topic from their experience.
