Abstract
ABSTRACT This is a request for an administrative supplement for NIH DP2ES032761 titled âMolecular Dissection of Mitochondria-Organelle Interactionsâ. This project aims to identify the signals that originate from other organelles and regulate mitochondria in healthy cells and target them in mitochondrial dysfunction for therapeutic gain, using an innovative mitochondrial labelling and isolation strategy coupled to imaging. In this supplement, we propose to determine how of mitochondria-organelle interactions change in cellular models of mitochondrial diseases, using high resolution imaging techniques and biochemical methods. This administrative supplement will provide an outstanding co-mentored training experience of an underrepresented minority baccalaureate degree holder, Francisco Miralles, whose career goal is to continue his education in an MD/Ph.D program.
