Abstract

Abstract The Atlantic Center for Occupational health and Safety Training (Atlantic COHST, the Center) will provide essential training and outreach in response to the 2022 declared disasters in Puerto Rico. Utilizing a broad-based approach, the Atlantic COHST will address health and safety training needs of worker populations in Puerto Rico, including communities, volunteers, day laborers, migrant, and other vulnerable worker populations. Using existing knowledge and understanding of worker safety and health, personal protective equipment, and experience in training disaster workers, the Atlantic COHST can quickly adapt to meet the needs of this population. Rutgers School of Public Health and the Migrant Clinicians Network will participate in the project. Over the course of two years, the Center will offer 28 courses, reaching 385 trainees, providing 2,405 contact hours of training.
