Abstract
PROJECT SUMMARY / ABSTRACT The purpose of this administrative supplement is to support Dr. Allenâs transition from a mentored career development K01 award to research independence as he experiences a critical life event. This supplement will ensure the continuity of Dr. Allenâs research program by providing funds for a postdoctoral associate who can oversee recruitment and study visits during Dr. Allenâs planned time off, contribute to the creation and maintenance of data processing and analysis pipelines, and assist in the preparation of planned manuscripts. Adding a postdoctoral staff member will be impactful to Dr. Allenâs progress because his study involves a complex dimensional recruitment strategy and has ambitious sample size targets would be hampered by a slowdown in recruitment during this critical life event. The study also requires continuous maintenance of preprocessing and analysis pipelines for multimodal data, including functional neuroimaging, psychophysiology, experimental data. This supplement support comes at a critical juncture in Dr. Allenâs career, during which he will be preparing his first R01 submissions. Increased staff support will enable Dr. Allen to bring existing planned manuscripts to publication in a timely manner, allowing him adequate time to develop future R01 submissions, and supporting his retention in biomedical research as he transitions to full research independence.
