Abstract
SUMMARY: This Administrative Supplement requests support for Brooklyn Messenger, an undergraduate student to gain summer research experience. Brooklyn is considering pursuing a health-related science career. She has had some opportunities to shadow and explore the medical field but none with research. As a student athlete, she does not have as many opportunities with research during the school year. In the summer, she will conduct experiments in a project to probe the molecular interconnections between the molecular clock and lipid metabolism. She will learn the process of proposing a specific scientific hypothesis, designing experiments to test it, interpreting data, and making scientific presentation. These activities in gaining research experience in a cutting-edge scientific environment will enhance her understanding of scientific research and help Brooklyn determine her future career pursuits.
