Abstract
PROJECT SUMMARY Acquisition of a CombiFlash EZ Prep Chromatography System with Integrated ELSD for Chemical Synthesis The goals of the continuing R35GM118173 research program âChemical Synthesis of Complex Natural Products for Translational Scienceâ involve chemical syntheses of bioactive molecules for translational studies. An instrument supplement is requested to purchase a Teledyne ISCO Combiflash EZ Prep Chromatography System with Integrated Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD) to establish a highly flexible and complete solution for both normal and reverse-phase purifications of biologically active natural products and analogues as well as synthetic intermediates in the Porco laboratory at Boston University. The instrument would replace a dysfunctional prep-HPLC system to enable and expedite research in many ways, as compound purification is a substantial aspect of the research workflow. Automated solvent fraction collection would also provide a significant advantage by expediting purifications and enabling increased multitasking and greater focus on synthetic chemistry. As part of Boston Universityâs Institutional Support, the Provost Office has committed to the cost of a service contract from Teledyne Isco to support the chromatography system.
